as a side note, I forgot to mention that the patch was from you.
so I just jumped on the server and modified the Svn log accordingly:

"Add support for outlet.n.delay.{start,shutdown}, and use
outlet.n.delay.shutdown for outlet.n.shutdown.return instead of the default
3 seconds (patch from Rich Wrenn)"
